Clear Answers
Before You Begin
The questions families ask most, answered plainly.
The Voice Loft is structured, but never one-size-fits-all. These answers explain how placement, progression and the Portal work before a student begins.
Where does a new student begin?
Every new student begins with a teacher-led placement assessment. This identifies an appropriate provisional studio and colour level, which is then confirmed through teaching across the first lessons and more than one musical context.
How long does it take to move through the curriculum?
There is no fixed timeline. The 12 levels are a long-term progression pathway, not a programme designed to be completed within one teaching year. Students move forward when skills are comfortable, secure and repeatable in appropriate musical contexts.
What do students and families see in the Portal?
Students can see upcoming lessons, their current curriculum level, selected practice guidance, published feedback and assigned resources. Parents or guardians have their own access to lesson information, supportive feedback and progress. Private teaching, assessment and health observations remain teacher-only.
Do I need to download an app?
No. The Voice Loft Portal is a secure web-based service that works in a browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Enrolled students and parents or guardians receive their own access details.
Can someone attend without holding a weekly lesson place?
Spotlight Sessions are open to anyone and do not require a regular weekly lesson place. Weekly one-to-one places are limited so each student can receive an individual, properly paced programme.
